The Right of Eminent Domain - The BILL is on Governor Reynolds desk still waiting to be signed on 05.27.2025.

On the question “Shall the bill pass?” (H.F. 639), the vote was:

Rule 23, requiring all senators present to vote except those who express a conflict of interest, was invoked.

Yeas, 27: Alons Bennett Bisignano Blake Campbell Donahue Dotzler Evans Garrett Guth Knox Lofgren McClintock Petersen Pike Quirmbach Rowley Salmon Sires Staed Taylor Trone Garriott Wahls Weiner Westrich Winckler Zimmer

Nays, 22: Bousselot Costello Dawson De Witt Dickey Driscoll Green Gruenhagen Klimesh Koelker Kraayenbrink Reichman Rozenboom Schultz Shipley Sinclair Sweeney Townsend Warme Webster Whitver Zumbach

Absent, 1: Celsi

The bill, having received a constitutional majority, was declared to have passed the Senate and the title was agreed to. IMMEDIATELY MESSAGED Senator Whitver asked and received unanimous consent that House File 639 be immediately messaged to the House.

The amendment that was proposed by State Senator Mike Bousselot this year 2025. The State Senate has had FOUR years to try and propose a solution to protect Private Property Rights and did nothing or killed anything that got out of the House! This year due to more pro private property senators getting elected last year, the Senate was FORCED to bring 639 to the floor for a vote. Otherwise they would have killed it again this year. We need to elect officials that stand with Iowans to protect our rights - especially our land rights.
